This update is a minor functional change and isn't necessary to keep playing on the server, though there are some really nice improvements for player personalization.

For those updating from < x.3040, we invite you to first see the above post which describes the major updates since x.3020.

Release Notes

  1. You can now change your player icon. From the main menu, that player icon that you were always able to see but never be able to change can now be set. We have 20 options so far, 10 light and 10 dark, in all sorts of colors. While this is the only place functionally you'll be able to see it, the server is able to keep track of and distribute your player icon to other players. It also now has a face.

  2. Better representation of roles. Now on the main menu, battle results and player listings, you're able to see player's roles. These roles are managed by the server, and for the server we run that you're joining now and the main server that'll be running in the cloud, the roles are synced between the game, the forum here, and the Discord.0.0.1.3042 - Player Icons and Player Roles Screenshot-2024-04-14-140903

    All of the roles on the website and Discord are translated into the game.

    In the case where you have multiple (e.g. Streamer and Level Builder), you can tell the Server Host which one you'd like shown in game. On the website and Discord, there's a hierarchy ordered like this: Developers, Moderators, Server Hosters, VIP Members, Clan Leaders, Supporters, Streamers, and finally Level Builders.
  3. New Server Messages. The game can now show other personalized messages besides the Server Announcements. When first logging on and going online, a welcome message is shown. If you're manually kicked by the server, there is a kick message so that players can be informed of why it happened. On the server announcement, you can now hit F1 and it'll send you to a server-designated link. That can be used to direct people to the server's homepage or an announcement page. All of this data along with the player's role as seen by the server is transmitted upon connecting. That role is what shows on the homepage. So, if you're not connected to the server when you first enter the main menu, it'll only show your clan if you have that set.


Other changes:

  • In a normal classic match, points lost when killed have been reduced from 33% to 20%.
  • Players with >3000 Battle XP have a main menu background rotation.
  • Players' and Pinball's eyes now squint again. >.<
  • Created rooms now tell the server that it wants bots to fill the remaining positions, but the server has the control to honor that and in what amount.


The coming weeks will become slower for development. Our priorities will be more stages, more badges, cleaning up the server and fixing its bugs, bringing the server online 24/7, finishing the tileset revamp and adding more of them, exporting the game to GX.Games, and serving our community, not in that order. The game's internals are stable enough to keep building custom stages, keep playing online, gain XP and earn a role or two in our forum. You can apply for a role and contact the group leaders here.
